Winterizing tips

Brrr. Colder temperatures and short days are here. As cold weather settles in, a little preparation can stop some big messes.

1. Remove all outside hoses attached to your faucets.
2. Put insulation caps over your faucets.
3. Never shut your heat all the way off, especially if traveling. A cold snap could burst your pipes.
4. Shut down your sprinkler system as soon as the first frost hits.
5. Insulate pipes that are exposed to sub-freezing temperatures.
