Change Your HVAC Air Filter Regularly
Wow, we usually have much different things to share with you during the winter months, but we just wrapped up 100 days straight without precipitation. (And then it rained for like 5 minutes.) Cold temperatures are here and your heater is running more often now.
One major effect of all this dry weather is the rapid build up of dust in your HVAC air filter. Your heater’s air filter is designed to protect the delicate inner workings of your heating system. Regular replacement of that filter needs to happen to maintain the life and health of your HVAC system. If you were to remove your filter and not replace it, the components would gather filth until the part failed. If you don’t replace your filter, it can become clogged and reduces air flow through your furnace. Choke the system too much and it won’t ignite at all.
If you are not sure where, what, how to change out your filter, ask us. We’ll be happy to tell you during our next service call. If you don’t want to mess with it all, get us on a schedule and we’ll be happy to swap out filters for you every four-six weeks as your system requires. If you want to do it yourself, make sure to get the right air filter for your system.
While an air filter protects your furnace and air conditioner, they are not designed to filter other air borne pathogens or allergens . There are other more advanced system for true air cleaning for your household. If you have a lot of pets, or if your household suffers from allergies, schedule a FREE in-home consultation to discuss a system-wide air cleaner for your home.
In the meantime, don’t forget to keep checking and replacing your filters. Your HVAC parts will thank you for it.
