Clean Compressor Stays Efficient
June 9, 2017PNM Rebates for Cool Savings
July 17, 2019School is about to be back in session and routines are changing around the house, it’s time to check if everything is in A+ shape for the end of summer. Hot days still keep AC units working double time. There are some things you can do to keep your AC system healthy for life of the unit. The average life of a well cared for Air Conditioning compressor is 10-15. Get the most out of your HVAC unit through proper maintenance.
Reprogram your thermostat to better reflect your schedule.
Even if you don’t have a fancy smart thermostat for controlling the temperature in your home, most thermostats are programmable these days to some extent.
Fully manual? No worries just dial it up when you leave and dial it back down when you get home. You would be surprised how much can be saved by simply changing the air conditioning temperature by a few degrees. And, give us a call if you would like us to install a new programmable thermostat for you.
Replace the air filter in your AC unit
We live in a hot dusty place, and if the wind is kicking up, all that dirt gets drawn into your system. Your best line of defense for making your blower unit last longer is to replace your HVAC filter regularly. Sometimes as often as once a month if the conditions warrant it.
Proper maintenance of your AC unit extends its life.
If your AC unit has dirt and build up on the coil, the whole system becomes less efficient. If you don’t already have a maintenance schedule in place, you should schedule a routine with your Albuquerque HVAC experts at Academy Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Heating. We will examine your unit, checking cooling tolerances and check freon levels. You really should plan on having your AC unit cleaned and refreshed every couple year at a minimum. But, for best performance we recommend a full detailed cleaning of the unit annually before the hot season kicks in.
Don’t wait until you have to call a plumber Albuquerque
